Haskell Canyon Bike Park: Santa Clarita's New MTB Destination

Haskell Canyon Bike Park opened in spring 2026 as the Santa Clarita Valley's first purpose-built mountain bike park: 15+ miles of trails, pump tracks, jump lines, a dual slalom course, and a skills area, all free to ride. It is the biggest outdoor recreation milestone the valley has seen in years. Here is the complete insider guide from Sam Silver.

The Park at a Glance

Haskell Canyon Bike Park sits at 21450 Copper Hill Drive within the 720-acre Haskell Canyon Open Space, a roughly 380-acre developed ride zone on the valley's east side. Ground broke in July 2025, and the park opened to riders in spring 2026. What riders got is a proper mountain bike destination: 15-plus miles of cross-country, climbing, and downhill trails, slopestyle lines, downhill jump trails, a dual slalom course, beginner and advanced pump tracks, a dedicated skills area, and bike repair stations at the trailheads. Best of all, it is free. Pro rider Jon Simek helped shape the design, and it shows on the line quality.

Trail Map at a Glance

What's at Haskell Canyon

The park is organized around two activity areas: the Haskell Bike Park Core and the Blue Cloud Trailhead, connected by the trail network.

Cross-country & climbing trails

Miles of loop-style singletrack and climbs through the canyon, built for every fitness level from first-timer to endurance rider.

Downhill jump trails

Flow and jump lines with tabletops and berms. Start small, session the features, and work your way up.

Dual slalom course

Twin side-by-side courses for head-to-head racing, the kind of feature that used to require a drive out of the valley.

Pump tracks

Beginner and advanced pump tracks where you generate speed with your body instead of pedaling. Endless laps, big smiles.

Skills area

A dedicated zone for practicing balance, manuals, and cornering drills before you take them to the trails.

Bike repair stations

Trailhead stands with basic tools for quick fixes: seat height, brake tweaks, and chain adjustments before you roll.

Sam's Riding Tips

How to Start at Haskell Canyon

  • "New riders: spend your first visit on the beginner pump track and the skills area. No pedaling required, just momentum and balance, and the kids will out-lap you happily."
  • "Always wear a helmet, carry water, and check that your bike is trail-ready. The repair stations help with mid-ride tweaks but not with a flat tire, so pack a tube."
  • "Build up to the jump lines slowly and watch the locals first. Every tabletop here is rollable, so you can lap it at your own pace."
  • "Ride with a buddy in the canyon backcountry. The loop trails are beautiful, so let someone know your loop before you roll."
Community Impact

Why This Park Matters to SCV

For years, serious mountain bikers in Santa Clarita drove to Simi Valley, Castaic, or further to find proper trails. Haskell Canyon changes that. A free, professionally designed bike park in our own open space means more families riding together, more kids gaining confidence on two wheels, and one more reason the valley is a great place to raise an active family. It is exactly the kind of investment that shows up in the State of the City and in everyday life, from weekend mornings at the pump track to after-school sessions on the skills area.
